Scientists used them inn medical experiments in Europe and in the UK while studying such topics as medicine, aging, and disease treatments. Eventually the public discovered them and once they got a hold of them, they became very popular pets.

It really took off once celebrities saw how awesome they are. Once they started buying the, their popularity exploded. In the US they became so big that it was a certified fad. , these pigs do not remain very mini for very long. They may start out all cute and tiny, but they do grow up. Adult mini pigs for sale can grow to the size of a household dog and weigh up to 150 pounds, although usually a micro pig will at least weight 20-30 pounds. This is not super small, but when compared to a pot bellied pig, which can grow to 200-300 pounds and even up to 1000 pounds, a mini pig for sale looks quite petite.

You need to think about when the mini pig can be weaned from its mother, if it requires a special diet, and how to best to have it transported to your home. You must see if there are any restrictions on how it can be transported and make arrangements accordingly. Also some communities have special zoning laws regarding keeping a pig. In some places you need to have property that has been zoned for farming. All this needs to be determined ahead of time.
